Suffolk Twill is fabric made from Nowton Park Manx Loaghtan and Hebridean (Eigg and Jura) as Wederdena Ryelands, all sheep that live in Suffolk (sadly not a special Suffolk pattern, it is a 2/2 twill! :) ) . And it's the first piece I have woven on my Glimakra loom.
The joy of this piece is in the use of the sheep's natural colours. Ryeland is a little cream rather than an ice white, and these particular Manx's are a little paler than you would normally expect.
It's a nice lofty piece, a lightweight blanket feel that would make a good bag or cushion panel. This weave also felts well, I tried it in the machine and its a solid felt if you wanted it thicker.
There are some weaving aberrations but they only add to the uniqueness of the piece. Have fun spotting them all!
This length measures approximately 1.35m long, width varies from one end to the other 50-56cm
