These Hebrideans live at Hatfield Forest, a National Trust property in Essex. They help with the habitat restoration of the Forest, keeping the rare wood pasture habitat open and in good condition. Although there are 3 small flocks at work in the Forest, most of the clip came from the wether boys, 'Sons of Nigel', and you can really tell - its so deep and soft. Lots of the boys have the big thick ruff (like their dad, Nigel) and this makes for an interesting yarn.   
 
This yarn is much darker than the Nowton Hebrideans, and is peaty black with some white grey shocks. 
 
I find than Hebridean yarn does take strong natural dyes, mostly on the grey white, and the darker parts will go blacker/browner. It won't be the same result as with white yarn but it will be interesting (see '2 Clips of Steve' coat on the weaving page for a good example). 
 
50g is about 115m, DK is 16 WPI
 
A cone is around 530g, excluding the weight of the cone. If you'd like a sample please select sample and the sample postage rate (large letter + postcard). Multiple yarn samples can be sent this way if you'd like to see more than one. 
 
You can buy yarn whatever increments you like in 10g increments, just add multiples to the basket, they will be sent in a continuous length up to 100g.
