Sunday 28th March 2027 Jubilee Hall in Starston, Norfolk, IP20 9NL
A fun cooking day all based around Stinging Nettles, Urtica dioica.
They are surprisingly versatile leaf ingredient, that can be put in all sorts of dishes and drinks; high in iron, and with a bright green colour they are a nutritious and unexpected early spring boon.
We will be using them to make a rustic pesto, adding them to meat balls and cakes as well as making a nettle cordial to take home.
The first part of the day will be spent picking the nettles in Glebe Meadow, across the road from the hall. Please wear long sleeves and bring gloves and secateurs if you wish to use them.
We'll make the pesto and meatballs first and eat them for lunch (although there will be pesto to take home too!), and then move onto cakes and cordial in the afternoon.
Part wild food, part getting practical with new ingredients into the kitchen, and with a whole lot of love for Stinging Nettles who grow all over.
All ingredients and sundry materials included, as are refreshments and lunch. Please advise in notes when booking of any dietary requests or requirements.
