Blades of Grass
‘And they will beat their swords into plough shares . . . . '
. . . except when it is necessary to beat the ploughshares back into swords.
An imagining that the Land has had enough of our lack of care and wishes to fight back.
This piece takes the form of the Three of Swords, which in a traditional Tarot deck represents grief, loss and betrayal. It takes to heart the confusion and sorrow of the land as it fails to understand the destruction brought to it by a human hand, but also that of the human masses who feel the bereavement of their lives being separated it.
It is a heavy symbol that weighs deep, both as a we engage with our feelings about the wider environment but also facing up to our own part in the destruction.
But when all the grieving is done, only hope remains
