The first Apple Day at Waveney Valley Barn where we'll be focusing on the wonderful craft elements of one of our favourite fruit trees.

What we can make from the wood will depend on what is available nearer the time but there will be a stash of seasoned wood from previous apple trees I have known (including the Worcestershire Pearmain that makes these lovely apple cankers so good for pendants!) which will be great for small items like chip forks or haberdashery things like buttons and crochet hooks.

We'll also do a deep dive all about apple dyes and how to get the best and modify your way around this fabulous yellow (and sometimes green and brown). We can look to dye samples or focus on a small project like dyeing your own needle roll or cotton for a stash bag.

We'll end by making some kind of delicious apple cake or pie using the Barn's old apple varieties and outdoor pizza oven, hopefully enough for you to take home, certainly enough for you to eat there with an afternoon cup of tea!

All materials and refreshments provided but please bring a packed lunch.

We will be outdoors with a fire for the dye pans but have use of a yurt/gazebo incase of inclement or hot weather. WC facilities available.
